DC Surge Protection Device (PV SPD)

A DC Surge Protection Device (PV SPD) protects photovoltaic (PV) systems from lightning-induced surges and transient over voltages on the DC side of solar installations.

A DC SPD, also known as a PV Surge Protection Device, is installed between solar PV strings, combiner boxes, inverters, and DC distribution panels. It safely diverts surge currents caused by lightning or switching events to the grounding system, protecting solar modules, inverters, batteries, and other DC equipment.

These devices are specifically designed to withstand the high DC voltages found in photovoltaic systems and are essential for improving system reliability and reducing downtime.
